After way too many hours at the 2011 caravan and camping show and lots more hours pouring over magazine and brochures we finally decided on a Trackabout Deluxe Tourer Camper Trailer. By the time had made our decision we were proficient in all the lingo, drawbar, oz hitch, tonneau, ball weight, canvas weight, dynaproofing, ripstop etc
Tammy from Desert Track Campers was our guide and with her help and JT's from Trackabout we added (and then removed) and then added all the pieces to a trailer that will one day hopefully take this family around Australia. The order was placed and we waited patiently (well sometimes not so patiently) on the other side of Australia for it to be built and freighted. (The camper has officially seem more of Australia then we have :) )
So what did we end up getting?
A 2011 deluxe tourer with the following additions;
hot dipped galvanised chassis ( now comes standard)
a second 85 l water tank
upgraded floor to 12ft
two side wheel arch lockable boxes
5 piece breezeway (to enclose the annexe)
extra height tonneau cover (to accommodate the annexe and bedding)
upgraded Drifta kitchen package
handbrake
annexe spreader bars
12 volt system (now standard)
extra battery cradle
mirror door (to provide access all the way through the tent)
zip provisions on the back of the tent to allow for future annexes on the drawbar side.
Nanny and Grandy, Daddy B's wonderful parents, brought the trailer down from Perth for us and we wasted no time setting her up.
Then is was time to check out the new kitchen :)
Set up was a breeze and even though we didn't peg the floor down we got a very satisfactory result. We pulled her down again and zipped on the annexe and then reset up.
The space is truly amazing. With four kids to accommodate we were always concerned about room but once we saw her up our worries disappeared. We have a 5 piece breezeway to add to the annexe to fully enclosed the space but rain was threatening so we didn't put it up.That will have the wait for the weekend.
So we are very happy with our new purchase and can't wait to explore this beautiful country of ours with her firmly in tow.
